A step-by-step guide to save you time on marketing your business
One of the most tedious things to do in business (aside from book keeping) is plan out our marketing content. Not just what to talk about when, but that actual copy and visuals you're going to use across all of your platforms.
This step-by-step guide on how to plan a year's worth of content from one photo shoot is going to save you an astronomical amount of time so that you can keep focusing on doing what you do best:
1) Figure out your goals and projects
What do you want to accomplish this year? Are there new products or services you want to create?
Deciding what is it you want to accomplish this year could be the most time consuming part of this process. Once you decide what those accomplishments are, lay them out in a planner, notebook, or whatever tool you use to plan things for your business.
2) Set your "launch" periods
When do you want to make these ideas available to your customers?
For each accomplishment you'll be finishing/launching, plan about a month in advance to get a shoot in (that way you have more flexibility on dates).
NOTE: While I typically deliver content easily within one week, waiting until the last minute isn't ideal for anyone involved. That's why you're reading this so you can get ahead of the game and have a less stressful timeline to work with!
3) Pick a content scheduler and get to work
There are so many different schedulers to choose from that not only are great to work with overall, but they also have a great free plan to get you used to. Of the various schedulers I've tried, I like Later the best for now for two key reasons:
it's user friendly (clean design and easy to navigate)
can also schedule stories to Instagram and Facebook
For those that have been developing content for their business for a while, recycle what you've already created and put them into value driven captions. For the time periods leading up to finishing a project, plan out what you're going to say in those captions. Yes, even if it's 6 months from when you're reading this. No it won't sound fake or awkward because you're going to be saying the same thing in 6 months anyway!
If you're starting from scratch, consider developing long form content such as blog posts or videos on YouTube on topics you and your tribe have in common. Then use the content from those pieces and make smaller content (like a social media post caption). Before you know it, you'll have plenty of content to keep you active online and you'll eventually get better at knowing what your tribe wants from you!
4) Book your brand shoot & use content in your plan
When you're ready to book your shoot, we go over your plan and figure out which package is going to best suit your needs.
For example, our bundle packages are designed to give you the flexibility you need to get the content for whatever is it your promoting! My clients have used Bundle #1 to plan 6-12 months worth on social content mixed in with other graphics they create in their feeds. Imagine what the other bundles can do for you?!
Once you get your content, all you have to do is place whatever imagery you need for your platforms. Whether you're scheduling them out or you're using a spreadsheet, place the photos and videos in your calendar, add some value driven copy, and you're good to go!
